Japanese and German

I told myself (and my family) that when this project was complete we would enjoy a nice Shabu Shabu dinner. Last night was the night. Over 2 hours of hanging out, eating, swish swishing. Vegetables, meat, udon noodles, vegetables, meat, sticky rice, more tofu.

I'm sure sports was the topic here...

For dessert I was in the mood for good old apple pie. I only make one kind - a sour cream struesel that I believe is German. I didn't realize it at the time. But when I remembered that it was German, it made me chuckle. You see I secretly aspire to live a creative, soulful life like my Japanese/German friends do.

Zehnders Apple Pie

It wasn't done on purpose...but it was most definitely meant to be. It was a wonderful, well deserved, slow, soul-filling evening.
